Sorta Strange Productions™ was established December 12th, 2018 as a General Partnership between our founders TJ Porter, and Matt Gier. We were reestablished as Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ in 2023 with our original founders as Members. Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ is veteran-owned and operated, and Creator-managed.
Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ is comitted to being as transparent in its operation as possible. We are also committed to being a fair and safe place for Creators to upload and publish their content and, if eligible, earn money from it. Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ has its Operating Agreement and Business Model Document publicly available. The Operating Agreement describes how Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ is owned, managed, and operated. The Business Model Document describes exactly how Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ earns and distributes its revenue, and how the Creators play a role in managing Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™.
Users of the platform may upload videos to the platform. Users who do this are called Creators. Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ has a very lax policy on what content is allowed on our platform. We do not allow anything illegal or pornographic; however, Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ reserves the right to take down any uploaded video we deem necessary.
You may be wondering how you can make money on the platform. Sorta Strange Productions, LLC's™ main source of revenue is Sorta Strange Premiere℠ subscriptions. This subscription gives users early access to eligible videos and provides an ad-free experience. The revenue from Sorta Strange Premiere℠ subscriptions and advertising is split 50/50 between eligible Creators and Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™. Creators must be at least 18 years old or older and sign up as independent contractors to become eligible.
The money allotted to Creators is evenly divided again into two categories: early access videos, and all other videos. Lastly, the money is split again by view count from Sorta Strange Premiere℠ subscribers. For example, if 100 Sorta Strange Premiere℠ subscribers each watched one video, and of the videos watched you received 20 views from those subscribers, then that month you would make about $50.
It is important to keep in mind that there are also two categories you can compete in. Early access videos, and regular videos. Since videos uploaded can only be early access for one month, only a small portion of videos on the platform will be early access. If we take the previous example and then change it to say that the video you got 20 views on was early access and that no other videos watched by the Sorta Strange Premiere℠ subscribers were early access, then you would make about $250 that month. This is because, in this example, you had no other competitors in the early access videos category.
Let's have one more example. Again, we will have 100 Sorta Strange Premiere℠ subscribers who each watched one video. We will again say your early access video received 20 views, but this time, another Creator's early access video also got 20 views. Then 60 other Creators got one view on regular videos. In this example, you and the other early access Creator would get about $125 each, and each of the 60 other Creators would get about $4.17. This, again, is because the competition for early access videos is a lot less.
There is one important disclaimer about these examples. The examples assume that each of those 100 Sorta Strange Premiere℠ subscribers is paying full price for their subscription. Sorta Strange Productions, LLC™ offers discounts on Sorta Strange Premiere℠ to active duty military, guard, reserves, and veterans, their civilian service counterparts, USPHS, NOAA Commissioned Corps, people who have elected to disclose their disability status to us, and first responders. You must remember it is the revenue that is divided, so if all 100 subscribers in the above examples were receiving the discounted rate, then you should cut the dollar amounts given in half.
